University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis sophomore
Niklas Gerdes advanced to the consolation singles semifinals at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals today. He scored two wins to move on to Sunday's action.
Gerdes had to battle back after losing the first set in his first match of the day against Indiana's Andrew Redding. He rallied to take the second set and advanced by winning a super-tiebreaker.
"It seems like every match he is getting stronger, mentally, and getting better and cleaner," stated UTC head coach
Chuck Merzbacher. He is sticking to the process and that really is what the fall is for. He is really using it to build a good base."
Gerdes won in straight sets in his second match, defeating Middle Tennessee's Luis Morilla (7-6 (2), 6-2). He moves on to face the Blue Raiders' Tom Moonen tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. at the UT outdoor courts. Check back to GoMocs.com for a full recap.
