University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sophomore Niklas Gerdes had his streak end in the consolation semifinals at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in Knoxville, Tenn., today.

Gerdes dropped an epic three-set match to Middle Tennessee's sophomore Tom Moonen today.  Moonen is an All-Conference USA player, but Gerdes gave him almost all he could handle today. 

Gerdes won the first set in a tiebreak 7-6 (6).  Moonen came back and took the second in an extra frame, 7-6 (7).  The final set was a 10-point, super-tiebreaker, won by Moonen 10-4. 

This ends all competition for UTC at the Regionals.  The Mocs head to the Georgia Southern Championships this weekend for their final action of the fall.  Competition begins Friday, Oct. 27, and runs through Sunday in Statesboro, Ga.
