Soccer Returns Home to Host VMI, UNCG

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team concluded its six-game road trip last weekend and will return to Finley Stadium for the first time in nearly five weeks to host VMI Friday night and UNCG Sunday afternoon.
 
Friday's match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Finley Stadium. Sunday's match is a WHITE OUT! Fans will receive a free t-shirt. Admission to all Chattanooga home matches is free. The Mocs are 3-7-2 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference action. Sophomore Jordan Mueller leads the team with nine points on three goals a three assists while freshman Chloe Arnold has a team-high four goals. She notched the game-winning goal for the Mocs at Western Carolina. Redshirt freshman Catherine Meyer is third on the team with two goals, both game winners.
 
In goal, the Mocs have used sophomores Melia Correa and Bailey Coppedge. Correa has 46 saves on the year for a .754 saves percentage and a 2.01 goals against average, allowing 15 goals in her seven starts. Coppedge, with five starts in goal, has a 1.40 GAA and 16 saves with two wins, both by shutout.
 
 
ABOUT VMI (4-8-1, 1-2-1 SoCon)
The Keydets have spread out their four wins across the season, defeating Hampton, St. Peter's and Mount Saint Mary's on the road and SoCon foe ETSU at home. VMI opened SoCon play with a loss at Furman and followed that up with a scoreless tie at Wofford before falling to Western Carolina.
 
Emma Quirk leads the team with three goals and six points. Julianne Knoblett and Taylor Callahan each have a pair of goals with Knoblett second on the team in scoring with five points. VMI's remaining goals are spread out evenly among four players. Blake Cashin and Keniya Lee each have a team-high two assists. In goal Ceci Keppeler has started all 13 matches for VMI. She has 90 saves for a .833 saves percentage and a 1.49 goals against average allowing 18 goals.
 
CHATTANOGA vs. VMI
The Keydets have won all four matches against the Mocs since joining the league in 2014. In Chattanooga, VMI earned a 2-1 win over the Mocs in the regular season then beat UTC on penalty kicks in the first round of the 2015 Southern Conference Tournament after neither team could find the net in 110 minutes of play.
 
 
ABOUT UNCG (5-6-2, 2-1-1 SoCon)
The Spartans opened SoCon action with a double-overtime win at Wofford before falling 2-0 at Furman. That was followed with a 2-0 shutout of their own at ETSU and a 2-2 double-overtime match at home against Western Carolina.
 
Emily Jensen leads UNCG with three goals, including two game winners, and eight points. Quiqui Hita, Regan Lehman and Heida Vidarsdottir each have two goals. Gabbi Charles has a team-best two assists with four points. Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper has 12 starts in goal for UNCG. She has 58 saves for a .795 saves percentage and a 1.24 goals against average allowing just 15 goals.
 
CHATTANOOGA vs. UNCG
UTC and UNCG have competed in league play since 1997 with the Spartans holding a 15-3-1 advantage. After falling in the first five matchups, the Mocs won three of the next four and earned a draw. UNCG has won the last 12 matches including a 1-0 win in Greensboro last year. In Chattanooga the Mocs are 2-7.
