JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team suffered a road sweep at ETSU, 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-12), on Wednesday night in Johnson City during Southern Conference play.

Following the loss, Chattanooga falls to 13-16 overall and 6-9 in SoCon action. The loss marks the third-straight loss for the Mocs. UTC can finish anywhere from fourth to seventh in the regular season standings heading into the tournament next weekend. ETSU improves to 16-10 overall and sits a game back of first-place Furman with a 12-3 mark in the SoCon.

Chattanooga was limited to a .010 hitting percentage for the match and was out-blocked by ETSU 14.0 to 5.0. The Bucs finished with a .292 attacking percentage including a .455 clip in the third set.

Miranda Elpers led the Chattanooga attack with a team-high nine kills while adding 11 digs on the defensive side.
Dani Szczepanski finished with five kills and the trio of
Emily Plumlee,
Mikaela Gauthreaux and
Sarah Root each totaled three.

Plumlee totaled 5.0 blocks to lead the Mocs while Root followed up with 3.0 of her own.
Megan Kaufman led the team with 12 digs.

1st Set | ETSU 25, UTC 17
The Bucs jumped out to an early 7-3 lead in the match's first ten points before extending that lead to 11-5. The Mocs would fail to threaten as they only pulled within five at 16-11 before dropping the set 25-17.

2nd Set | ETSU 25, UTC 18
ETSU built a quick 6-3 lead and kept pace the next few points to lead UTC 10-7. The Mocs would cut into the deficit and pull within one at 13-12 before ETSU scored five-straight to take an 18-12 advantage. The Bucs would close the set by out-scoring UTC by a point down the stretch to earn a 25-18 set win.

3rd Set | ETSU 25, UTC 12
Both teams exchanged the first eight points of the set before five-straight from ETSU gave the Bucs a 9-4 edge. They would keep the five-point lead pace at 15-10 and then roll on a 6-1 run from that point to open a sizeable 21-11 lead. ETSU closed out the set, 25-12, and the match, 3-0, on a combined 13-4 run.
