The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga split a pair of dual matches in North Carolina today.  The Mocs scored a 43-3 win over Davidson before dropping a 41-(-1) match to No. 6 N.C. State.  The Mocs are 2-2 overall and lead the Southern Conference race with a 2-0 league mark.

Against Davidson, the Mocs ended four of the 10 matches in the first period and scored bonus points in three others.  Seniors Justin Lampe and Bryce Carr posted pins at 174 and 184, while senior Alonzo Allen, sophomore Wade Cummings and senior Chad Pyke all had tech falls. 

Carr nearly pulled of a big upset in the dual with the Wolfpack.  He fell No. 3 Pete Renda 2-1 at 184 pounds.  Carr is 9-2 overall with both losses against top-10 opponents. 

Pyke also had a close one against his old team.  The N.C. State transfer fell 5-3 to Brian Hamann at 165.  Senior Scottie Boykin is also 9-2 with two losses to top-10 foes after today's 8-2 defeat against No. 8 Michael Macchiavello.

UTC has two weeks to prepare for its last action of the calendar year when they take on No. 2 Ohio State in Alpharetta, Ga., on Dec. 15.  Action takes place at 2:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) at the Cooler and ticket information is on the wrestling schedule page on GoMocs.com.
