2) Details
The last game before the holiday break befits some sort of promotion. Our marketing department went deep into their bag of tricks and came up with blue Santa hats with the Power C proudly displayed on the cap. The first 150 kids to enter Saturday, doors open at Noon, get the festive cap.
3) History
- 24-1 all-time against Georgia State.
- 11-1 in Chattanooga.
- The two schools have met just twice in the last 42 years.
4) Chatman Near Perfect, Near Record at JSU
Sophomore point guard had a near perfect game – assists and turnovers – in Thursday's win over the Gamecocks. He also almost recorded a record for assists in a game.
Chatman dished out 14 playing a shade less than 40 minutes. That's tied for the fourth most all-time with Darryl Yarbrough whose total came in February 1979 against Tennessee Wesleyan. Fourteen is the most since Keegan Bell had 16 in December 2011, a span of 225 games.
Record Book:
1) 17 by Gary Robb vs. Southern, Dec. 29, 1992
2) 16 by Tim Brooks at Western Carolina, Feb. 1, 1992
tie) 16 by Keegan Bell vs. Longwood, Dec. 29, 2011
4) 14 by Rodney Chatman at Jacksonville State, Dec. 21, 2017
tie) 14 by Darryl Yarbrough vs. Tennessee Wesleyan, Feb. 10, 1979
Equally impressive is Chatman's game management. He had a mere one turnover on the day. In the second half surge to victory, he posted 10 assists with ZERO miscues.
5) Three Notes to Notice
- Back-to-back career highs of 19 points for Nat Dixon. He's averaging 14.2 ppg over last six.
- Makale Foreman hit his first career game-winner nailing his sixth triple at Jacksonville State with 29 seconds to go. He's the first Moc with six 3pt made in a game since Eric Robertson's '16 six in Feb. 8, 2016 win at Mercer
- Makinde London leads the SoCon at 6.3 defensive rebounds per game.
