CHATTANOOGA -- The Chattanooga Mocs softball team is ready to hold their annual Frost Classic tournament at Frost Stadium this weekend with games running from Friday through Sunday. Aside UTC, Fairleigh Dickinson, Northwestern State, Western Michigan, UT Martin and Saint Louis will also be competing.
The Mocs (3-6) are scheduled to play five games in three days, all at Frost Stadium, with the first one beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Friday against FDU and will follow it up with a 4 p.m. game against Northwestern State. Saturday will also be at 1:30 and 4 p.m. against Western Michigan and UT Martin, respectively. Chattanooga will conclude the weekend on Sunday with a 12:30 p.m. matchup against Saint Louis.

Chattanooga Softball Team Notes
- Chattanooga played to a 1-3 record last weekend in the Chattanooga Classic earning a win over Radford and dropping games to Tennessee Tech, IUPUI and UConn.
- Mocs belted 12 hits, ten RBIs and totaled 27 bases in 10-3 win over Radford last weekend ... Most hits as a team in a non-conference game since Feb. 22, 2015 against Ball State.
- In three-straight win streak, UTC had 27 hits hits and scored 24 runs by way of three HRs, five doubles and drew 16 walks.
- Chattanooga ranks first in SoCon in walks (33) and least amount of strikeouts (29) ... second with a .277 batting average ... third in doubles (12), HRs (5), and slugging percentage (.427).
Chattanooga Softball Individual Notes

Aly Walker already has three multi-hit games and has registered a hit in seven of nine games ... Currently hitting .417 (10-for-24) with five RBIs and a team-high eight walks ... Team-best .563 on-base % and ties team-high with ten hits ... Leads all freshmen in SoCon with .417 batting average.

Ashley Conner tied with Walker with team-high ten hits (10-for-25, .400) ... Leads team with two HRs, six RBIs, 18 total bases and .720 slugging percentage ... .720 slugging percentage and two HRs rank third in SoCon.

Emma Sturdivant leads team with .421 (8-for-19) batting average and currently ranks fourth in the SoCon ... three multi-hit games in seven games played ... Four RBIs, 11 total bases, a walk and sacrifice fly in 21 plate appearances.
FDU Matchup (Friday 1:30 p.m.)
The Mocs will meet Fairleigh Dickinson for the second time this season as the two teams met in the NTC Tournament in Clermont, Fla., two weekends ago. Chattanooga won that matchup 6-4 as it was their first meeting in the
Frank Reed era. The Knights (0-5) dropped all five games of the NTC Tournament and were idle last weekend.
Northwestern State Matchup (Friday 4:00 p.m.)
The Demons of Northwestern State are led by former Chattanooga assistant coach Donald Pickett, who helped coach the Mocs with
Frank Reed at UTC from 2001-05 and at Chattanooga State from 1998-2000. Northwestern State (5-5-1) has wins over Maryland, Florida International, Sam Houston State, Prairie View A&M and Grambling while dropping games to #1 Florida (2x), UL-Monroe (2x) and SI-Edwardsville. They tied with Florida A&M 3-3 on Sunday as the game ended in the fifth inning because of travel restrictions.
Western Michigan Matchup (Saturday 1:30 p.m.)
The Broncos competed in the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz., on Feb. 9 - 12 where they played six games and went 2-4. WMU did not participate in any tournaments this past weekend. While in Arizona, the Broncos defeated San Jose State and Seattle while dropping four games by a combined five runs to Virginia, Stanford, New Mexico and Cal Poly.
UT Martin Matchup (Saturday 4:00 p.m.)
The Skyhawks of UT Martin got off to a hot start in the 2017 season by winning seven in-a-row before dropping their first game of the season on Saturday. In five of the seven wins, they defeated teams before seven innings due to the eight run rule. Their lone loss of the season was a one-run defeat from the hands of Akron. The Skyhawks have defeated Nevada, Coppin State, Army, Mississippi Valley State, Akron, Alabama State and Fort Wayne.
Saint Louis Matchup (Sunday 12:30 p.m.)
Saint Louis, of the Atlantic 10 Conference, competed in nearby Kennesaw, Ga., two weekends ago from Feb. 10 - 12, in the Rafter Memorial Tournament hosted by KSU. The Billikens were off last weekend. SLU defeated Morehead State, South Carolina State and Austin Peay and dropped games to Kennesaw State and Austin Peay in a re-match. Saint Louis went 14-8 in the Atlantic 10 a season ago and finished fourth.
