Chattanooga Softball Travels to Charleston, S.C.

The Mocs will head to Charleston, S.C., to participate in the Holy City Showdown hosted by College of Charleston this weekend.

CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs softball team will tackle their fourth non-conference tournament of the season by competing in the Holy City Showdown hosted by College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C., this weekend.

The Mocs will face Robert Morris, North Carolina, UMass Lowell, College of Charleston and Northern Kentucky in three days beginning with RMU on Friday at 11 a.m. Full matchup previews can be found below and the tournament central homepage can be found at the link above or by clicking HERE.

Chattanooga Softball Team Notes | Full Tournament Notes
- Hitting .271 as a team this season ... ranks third in the Southern Conference ... has totaled 11 HRs and 125 hits.

Chattanooga Softball Individual Notes | Full Tournament Notes
- Ashley Conner leads team with .420 batting average (21-for-50) ... ranks second in the SoCon ... ranks first in SoCon with .508 on-base %.
- Emma Sturdivant is hitting .353 (12-for-34) this season ... .438 (7-for-16) with runners in scoring position ... 3-for-7 with runners in scoring position and two-outs.

Robert Morris Matchup (Friday 11:00 a.m.)
The Mocs will meet Robert Morris in their first game of the Holy City Showdown. The Colonials from Pittsburgh, Pa., have two wins over Fairfield and a win over Siena. Five of their 11 losses have been by two runs or less. RMU has participated in the Cleveland State Dome, Madeira Beach Spring and Charlotte tournaments so far this season.

#RV North Carolina Matchup (Friday 3:30 p.m.)
Chattanooga will face North Carolina in the second leg of Friday's doubleheader. The Tar Heels received 21 votes in the latest USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll which ranks them 28th in the country. UNC is coming off a loss to SoCon member UNCG after a three-game sweep over then 21-ranked Pittsburgh to open up ACC play and had their ten-game win streak snapped in loss to the Spartans.

UMass Lowell Matchup (Saturday 9:00 a.m.)
UMass Lowell will enter the Holy City Showdown with a 3-5 record after picking up wins against North Texas in the North Texas tournament and two over North Dakota and Yale in the Tiger Invitational
hosted by Auburn. They dropped games to North Texas, Arkansas (2x), #13 James Madison and #2 Auburn. The Riverhawks will face RMU and Northern Kentucky before meeting Chattanooga.

College of Charleston Matchup (Saturday 3:30 p.m.)
The host-team College of Charleston will start tournament play with an even .500 record at 8-8 after recently being swept by #2 Auburn. They have wins over Liberty, NDSU, Monmouth, Eastern
Kentucky, George Mason (2x), Appalachian State and Jacksonville. C of C lost two one-run games including an extra inning 5-4 loss on the road at South Carolina.

Northern Kentucky Matchup (Sunday 9:30 a.m.)
The Norse of Northern Kentucky travels to Charleston, S.C., with a 1-10 record after notching their first win of the season over North Dakota on Saturday. They've played tough competition so far this year with losses coming to North Dakota, UCONN (2x), Coastal Carolina (2x), UL-Monroe (2x), Georgia and Dayton (2x). NKU will play UMass Lowell, College of Charleston, UNC and Robert Morris before meeting Chattanooga in the finale on Sunday morning.
