Mocs Have Saturday Road Matches Against APSU & Abilene Christian

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team is on the road for two matches this weekend.  The Mocs have a busy Saturday ahead with matches against Austin Peay and Abilene Christian on the same day.

The Mocs travel to Clarksville, Tenn., on Jan. 27 to take on the Governors at 2:00 p.m. (E.S.T.).  UTC then makes the short trip to Kenlake State Park in Hardin, Ky., to face Abilene Christian at 8:30 p.m.

"This is going to be a challenging day for this team," stated UTC head coach Chuck Merzbacher. "We have two matches in a day on the road against strong teams. It is going to take a focused effort and some toughness to get the job done.

"This is certainly a chance to grow."

UTC is 1-2 overall, including a win against Lee (7-0) and losses to MTSU (7-0) and Alabama (6-1).  Austin Peay lost to MTSU (7-0) in its only action of the spring to date.  ACU is 2-5 on the year and faces Tennessee Tech on Saturday before taking on UTC.

The Mocs are 15-6 all-time against APSU, but the Govs have won six of the last seven.  Each of the last five meetings have been 4-3 battles.  Austin Peay won last year's match, while the Mocs took the 2016 dual.

This is the third time UTC has taken on Abilene Christian.  UTC won both previous meetings, which took place in Richmond, Ky., in 2005 and 2007.
