Women's Basketball Anne Wehunt

COUNTDOWN: Meet Arianne Whitaker

The start of the Katie Burrows Era of Chattanooga women's basketball is closing in fast. It's time to take a look at the Mocs' lineup as a relatively young roster returns looking to capture the Mocs' 25th Southern Conference title.

The season starts in 15 days. Let's meet the student-athletes on this year's roster.

Arianne Whitaker is a redshirt junior from Cincinnati, Ohio. She started her collegiate career at Winthrop and transferred to Chattanooga after a successful freshman campaign with the Eagles. She was named the Big South Freshman of the Week three times and started 22 games. As a sophomore with the Mocs she started 28 of 30 games and scored a career-high against UAB in the WNIT. She led UTC in rebounding and was ranked fourth in the Southern Conference. She shot 44.6 percent and averaged 1.5 blocked shots per game.

Name: Arianne Whitaker

Why do you wear No. 4?
"I wear the No. 4 because when I got here I had a fresh new start and 4 more years to play and work hard."

Coach Katie's take on Arianne
"All three of our post players provide us with a different look. Arianne is strong and can muscle her way into position a little easier. She has a great touch which allows her to be a threat in multiple ways. She has improved in her ability to read and hit the open cutters when necessary."
