University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis head coach
Chuck Merzbacher announced the signing of Quinten Nevenhoven to a National Letter of Intent. The Rockford, Ill., native is a three-star prospect according to TennisRecruiting.net.
"Quinten competes in the Midwest region, which has been historically one of the strongest sections in the country," stated Merzbacher. "The Chicago area produces a lot of excellent tennis players.
"This young man is super athletic and I believe he will flourish in college tennis. In addition to being an accomplished tennis player, he is an outstanding student. We are looking forward to him joining the program."
Nevenhoven is ranked No. 9 in the state of Illinois according to TennisRecruiting.net. He is in the top 25 in the Great Lakes Region and just outside of the top 200 nationally. He is a three-time second team all-state honoree and a three-time NIC-10 Champion at Auburn High School. There he played for head coach Tracey Palmer and also lettered in Cross Country.
An active member of the National Honor Society, Nevenhoven's other accomplishments on his resume include the 2018 Northern Illinois Sectional title, semifinalist in 2017, 2018 NIC-10 Tennis MVP, 2018 Rock River Valley Athletic Prep Most Valuable Tennis Player and semifinalist at the 2018 University of Illinois ITA.
Nevenhoven is the son of Chris and Cindy Nevenhoven, and has a younger sister, Belen. His mother played tennis at Western Illinois (1987-91).
