University of Tennessee at Chattanooga defensive lineman Devonnsha Maxwell was named to the HeroSports.com Freshman All-American Team today.  Maxwell is a redshirt freshman from Valdosta, Ga.

Maxwell played in nine games with five starts, including each of the last three.  He posted 32 tackles and was second on the team with 6.5 for loss and 5.5 sacks.  His sack total was second on UTC's all-time freshman list, trailing Joshua Williams 7.0 in 2009. 

This is the second postseason honor for Maxwell, who was also on the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team.  This is the second year in a row UTC has had a Freshman All-American.  Cole Strange made the Phil Steele squad in 2017.
