The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team heads to Wilmington, N.C., for the UNCW Spring Invitational this weekend. The Mocs have matches against the Seahawks and Bryant University on the slate.
UTC takes on UNCW on Saturday, March 17, at 2:00 p.m. (E.D.T.). A link for live scoring for this match is available on the men's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com. The dual against Bryant is set for Sunday, March 18, at 10:00 a.m.
"We are heading into a stretch of very challenging matches and they are all on the road," stated UTC head coach
Chuck Merzbacher. "We are looking forward to some good training on spring break and playing some tough opponents.
"UNCW and Bryant are impressive teams with a lot of depth. They have both played a very good schedule and are in mid-season form."
UTC enters the weekend with a 6-7 record. Sophomore
Niklas Gerdes leads the team with a 14-10 mark, 7-5 in spring singles action. He and sophomore
Simon Bustamante are 5-5 at No. 1 doubles in the spring.
The Seahawks are 8-2 overall and take on Bryant on Friday before hosting the Mocs. This is the first time the Mocs face UNCW in school history.
Bryant holds a 7-13 overall record. In addition to the Friday match against UNCW, the Bulldogs also face UNCG on Saturday before taking on the Mocs on Sunday. This is also the first time the Mocs face Bryant in school history.
