Mocs Travel to Furman and Wofford This Weekend

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team is on the road for two Southern Conference matches this weekend.  The Mocs travel to Furman on Saturday, March 24, followed by Sunday action at Wofford.

Match time against the Paladins is set for 1:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.  UTC then faces the Terriers on March 25 at 1:00 p.m. at the Reeves Tennis Center in Spartanburg, S.C.

Links for live scoring of both matches are available on the men's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.

"Furman is one of the top teams in the SoCon and they are having a very good year," stated UTC head coach Chuck Merzbacher. "Wofford is also very solid top to bottom. We look forward to the challenge.

"We have added a few wrinkles to our doubles teams and have had a good week of practice. This is certainly a tough weekend on the road but the team is ready for it."

Furman enters the weekend with a 12-4 overall record after beating USC Upstate, 5-2, on March 14 to extend its winning streak to three matches. The Paladins host ETSU on Friday before the match with the Mocs.

The Mocs are 11-36 all-time against Furman and trying to snap a 15-match slide in the series.  UTC's last win against Furman was a 4-3 win on April 22, 2005, in the SoCon Tournament in Charleston, S.C.  The Mocs have not won at Furman since 1999.

Wofford brings an 8-4 mark into the weekend, but the Terries have lost two in a row.  They fell to Mercer (5-2) in their SoCon opener last weekend in Macon, Ga.

Chattanooga has a 15-9 advantage in the all-time series against Wofford.  The Terries have won four-straight, including last year's 6-1 win in Chattanooga on April 2.
