University of Tennessee at Chattanooga freshman Tomas Rodriguez advanced to the semifinals of the inaugural Chattanooga Collegiate Clay Court Championships at Manker Patten today.
 
Rodriguez defeated Tennessee Tech's Lucca Silva in three sets to advance.  He opened with a 6-3 win in the first, but dropped the second by the same score.  He took the 10-point super-breaker 10-6 for the win. 
 
He just missed making the finals in his collegiate debut, losing in afternoon action in three sets to Patrick Sydow of Memphis (7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (4). 
 
Junior Simon Bustamante and freshman Kerim Hyatt teamed up for a 6-3 over TTU's Albin and Vicente in doubles action.
