Mocs Drop First SoCon Match in 3-0 Loss at UNCG

Chattanooga volleyball suffered a straight-set sweep at UNCG to drop its first SoCon match of the season.

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team dropped its first Southern Conference match of the season, 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-20), at UNC Greensboro on Friday evening inside Fleming Gym.
 
Chattanooga moves to 6-10 overall and 2-1 in league play. UNCG improves to 8-8, 2-2 in the SoCon. The Mocs have now dropped their last 10 matches in Greensboro with the last win coming back on Oct. 21, 2006.

UNCG 3, Chattanooga 0
UNCG controlled the match from the start, claiming a convincing 25-12 win in the first set, ultimately setting the tone. The Spartans earned 25-22 and 25-20 wins in the second and third sets in route to a 3-0 sweep.
 
Chattanooga was limited to a .078 hitting percentage while UNCG attacked at an efficient .227 percentage. Greensboro also out-killed UTC by a wide 44-29 margin and recorded 11 more assists, 40-29. The Mocs won the blocking (7.0-6.0) and digging (60-58) categories.
 
Dani Szczepanski led the offense for the visitors, registering a team-high nine kills on 24 total attacks while committing just two errors for a .292 hitting percentage. Gylian Finch followed with six kills and two service aces in addition to 10 digs.
 
Jaquelyn Langhaim posed as a triple threat for UTC, collecting four kills, 24 assists and eight digs in the three-set match. Langhaim also added three blocks to her stat line.
 
Megan Kaufman and Miranda Elpers held down the defensive efforts by leading the team in digs with 16 and 12, respectively. Kaufman's dig total was a match-high. Bailey Bennett posted eight digs and a service ace for the Mocs.
 
Emily Plumlee totaled three kills on 11 attacks while adding a team-high four blocks. Eden Murray saw action in the third set and recorded a pair of kills in three attacks. Ally Ford added four kills and three digs in the three sets.
