The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team dropped its last two matches at the Virginia Duals to finish in sixth place in the tournament.  The Mocs battled hard against No. 16 Arizona State and Old Dominion, but could not come away with a win.

The Mocs opened with a 22-16 loss to ASU.  They followed that with a 21-15 loss to Old Dominion. 

UTC took four matches against the Sun Devils, led by junior Chris Debien's pin at 141.  Freshman Tanner Smith won at 149, while senior Rodney Jones scored a major decision at 197.  Senior Connor Tolley also scored a win at heavyweight. 

Junior Jake Huffine got the Mocs on the board against the Monarchs at 133.  Debien was in a battle with No. 13 and returning All-American Se'Derian Perry.  Debien took a 4-3 lead in the third period, but was penalized for locking hands.  He gave up a late takedown in the 7-4 loss. 

Freshman Mason Wallace scored six point in a walkover at 157, while freshman Hunter Fortner bumped up to 184 and scored a win. 

Fortner's victory brought the Mocs to an 18-12 deficit with two matches left.  Jones battled in his match at 197, but ODU secured the win with a 7-6 decision.  Tolley went on to win his second match of the day at heavyweight.

The Mocs are back home next weekend against VMI on Sunday, Jan. 20.  Match time is set for 2:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) in Maclellan Gym.
