University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior Alonzo Allen is the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from Jan. 2-Jan. 8, the league office announced today.

Allen defeated 18^th-ranked Gabriel Townsell at day two of the Southern Scuffle, presented by Compound Sportswear, by a 9-7 decision. He then fell to Lock Haven's Luke Werner by a 9-7 decision before taking down Alex Mackall of Iowa State by an 8-5 decision en route to a fifth place finish.

The Conyers, Georgia, native is currently 16-4 overall and 1-0 in duals on the season and has recorded one pin.  This is Allen's first career weekly honor from the SoCon.  It is the third by a Moc this season. 

The Mocs return to the mat on January 11 and 12 when they travel to Hampton, Virginia, to take part in the Virginia Duals.
