Busy Slate in Soccer's Final Home Stand

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team will close out the regular season home slate this weekend with Senior Night recognition and Breast Cancer Awareness matches against VMI and UNCG.

PROMOTIONS
On Friday the Mocs will host VMI and honor three seniors prior to the match. UTC will also be hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Night at the game. Prior to the game, the Mocs will honor seniors Bailey Gale, Anna Moore Rogers and Jordan Mueller.
 
Fans are encouraged to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. The Zeta Tau Alpha sorority alumni chapter from UT Knoxville will be on hand before the game to pass out information and pink ribbons at the gate. At halftime, breast cancer survivors will be recognized on the field.
 
The Brown Academy soccer kids will have halftime games and a post-match autograph session with the team. Anyone who wishes to have a poster signed by the team is invited to the autograph session.
 
MOCS vs. VMI
UTC is 0-6-1 against the Keydets. In the last match in Chattanooga, the Mocs fell 1-0 to VMI in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament held at Finley Stadium.
 
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA
The Mocs are 8-4-3 overall, marking a second straight season with at least eight wins. That is tied for fourth for single season wins. UTC also has eight shutouts, tying the school record set in 2003. Chattanooga is 3-2-1 against the Southern Conference and fifth in the league standings. UTC leads the league in fewest goals allowed (0.73), goals-against average (0.70) and shutouts.
 
Hollie Massey leads the Mocs with 11 points on three goals and a team-best five assists. She and Bailey Gale, also with five assists, are ranked fourth in the SoCon standings. Gale is second on the team in scoring with nine points and Faith Gober is third with three goals and two assists. Samantha Shaw and Emily Szymanski each have three goals, three more have two goals and three others have one each. Osa Iyare leads UTC with two game winning goals and six more have one each.
 
In the net, the Mocs are led by Ashton Shields and Abbey Saddler. Shields has five shutouts on the year, second in the SoCon, and a 0.87 goals against average. She has a 5-3-1 overall record and 34 saves. Saddler has three shutouts with a 3-1-2 mark and a 0.46 GAA.
 
ABOUT VMI
The Keydets are 1-12-1 on the year with a 0-5 conference mark. They have suffered fourth shutouts in league play with one goal in a loss to Wofford. VMI has just five goals on the year and average 11.9 shots per game.
 
Maria Vargas leads the team with four points on two goals. Three more have one goal each. In goal, Noelle Heilpern has started every game. She has a pair of shutouts and given up 21 goals with 69 saves.

PROMOTION
The Mocs will host kids from the YMCA. They will participate in halftime games.
 
MOCS vs. UNCG
Chattanooga is 3-19-2 against the Spartans. In the last game at home against UNCG, the Mocs battled to a scoreless tie in 2017. Last year UNCG came away with a 3-0 victory against the Mocs on the road.
 
ABOUT UNCG
The Spartans are 7-6-1 and tied for third in the league standings at 4-1. UNCG opened SoCon play with a 4-2 win over the Citadel. That was followed by a 2-0 win over Mercer before falling 2-0 at Furman. The Spartans have a 1-0 win at Wofford and a 2-0 win over VMI. UNCG has 25 goals this season and is averaging 15.9 shots per game.
 
Cienna Rideout and Gabi Santora lead the Spartans with 10 points each on three goals and a team-best four assists. Kayla Campbell leads UNCG with four goals and two game winners. Three more have multiple goals while eight have one goal each.
 
Abby Buchholz has 30 saves in the net for UNCG and has allowed 16 goals this season. She has a 1.63 goals against average and a .652 saves percentage.
