Sophomore Esme Hamilton led the Chattanooga Mocs to one of the day’s top team rounds completing the Cardinal Cup.

RESULTS | ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF

LOUISVILLE---The Chattanooga Mocs finished ninth at the Cardinal Cup with a total of 897. The ladies made their way around the UofL Golf Club shooting 4-over par 292 in Sunday's final 18. That tied for the fourth best of the day.

Esme Hamilton had the top card with 2-under 70. Maddy McDanel was close behind shooting an even 72. Kirsty Beckwith added 2-over 74, while Rheagan Hall completed the tally with 76. Dorota Zalewska turned in the drop score of 81.

Hamilton tied for 16th overall with a 5-over total of 221. It was her highest number in the fall as she enters the winter break averaging 72.13 over 15 rounds. The tie for 16th is her fourth straight top 20 as she posted a 14.8 average finish.

McDanel tied for 23rd with 223. She's the fourth Moc to claim a top 25 in the last two events. Beckwith and Hall tied for 25 last week at the Magnolia Invitational behind Hamilton's tie for ninth.

Beckwith shot 230, two ahead of Hall with 232. Zalewska ended up one behind her at 233.

Host Louisville (868) claimed an eight-stroke win over No. 20 Kentucky (876). Kansas' Sera Tadokoro won medalist honors with 8-under 208.

That ends the fall slate. The ladies return to the tee February 21-23 at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Collegiate in Greensboro, Ga.

3 NOTES TO KNOW

Fifth time this season multiple Mocs posted par or better scores in the same round. It's the third time the combo was Hamilton and McDanel.
Counting cards played par or better on a season-best 61 of 72 holes (84.7%). That's one better than 60 over the second 18 at the Princess Anne Invite (83.3%). Ten birdies today were just three less than the total from the first 36 holes combined.
Today's 292 ties for sixth-best team total this in 15 rounds. At 4 over, it's tied for the second-lowest vs. par with the 292 at the Mason Rudolph Championships behind level-par 280 opening the Princess Anne Invite.
