Senior Kirsty Beckwith and the Chattanooga Mocs women’s golf team begins the spring slate at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational.

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team starts the spring portion of their schedule with the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational this weekend. The event, hosted by Mercer, is on the Landing Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga.
The Mocs look to build on a strong foundation laid in the fall. Ranked 59th and 61st, respectively on Golfweek and Golfstat rankings, the ladies current 294.07 stroke average is nearly 2.5 strokes better than the school-record 296.43 set in 2016.
That's been led by sophomore Esme Hamilton. Hamilton registered four straight top 20s completing the fall. She shot 11 over (15 cards), 72.13 strokes per 18, finishing 11.6 on average. She bettered her career average heading into the campaign by 5.62 shots.
She wasn't alone. Dorota Zalewska (3.52), McDanel (3.46), Rheagan Hall (2.58) & Kristy Beckwith (1.83) all significantly beat their career averages over the fall events. That's the starting lineup to take the tee this weekend.
It's a 9 a.m. start on Friday. The Mocs are paired with Rutgers and North Florida on the first hole. The groups go off in 10-minute intervals with the final trio starting at 9:40 a.m.

- Second straight year competing in the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational as a team. It was an individual event in 2018.
- 16 par or better cards at the season's turn - Hamilton 7, McDanel 5, Hall & Zalewska 2 - is two more than the 14 last year's squad had all season.
- The squad recorded 10 or birdies in 11 of 15 fall rounds. The 11 is the most in a SEASON since recording 14 in 2016-17 with nine in the fall.
