Five Mocs Travel to ITA Regionals

Five members of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team are hitting the road this week for the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in Nashville, Tenn. The tournament is hosted by Vanderbilt and runs from Thursday, Oct. 24, through Monday, Oct. 28.
Competing in singles action are seniors Simon Bustamante and Turner Voges, junior Jacob Marshall and sophomores Tomas Rodriguez and Kerim Hyatt. Bustamante and Rodriguez make up one doubles tandem, while Rodriguez and Voges are also pairing for this weekend.
"The ITA Ohio Valley Regional is one of the highlight events of the fall," stated UTC head coach Chuck Merzbacher. "The competition is very strong, and we will have to battle in every match that we play. I'm excited to build off the All-American Championship and Louisville results and see what we can do."
Thursday and Friday action is split between the Currey Tennis Center and the Centennial Sportsplex. Matches at the Curry Tennis Center will have live scoring through a link on the men's tennis schedule page.
There are 22 schools competing this weekend in a singles draw of 128 and a doubles draw of 64, followed by consolation matches. Action begins at 9:00 a.m. (E.D.T.) on Thursday and Friday.
Hyatt lost in the consolation finals at last year's event in Knoxville, Tenn. It was the deepest run by a Moc at the ITA Regionals in years.
