Chattanooga Football Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga at Wofford
Gibbs Stadium – Spartanburg, S.C.
Saturday – Oct. 26, 2019
Head Coach Rusty Wright
Overall thoughts on the game:
"It was a tough, hard-fought Southern Conference game. We battled, they battled. They made a play. One more play than we did."
On getting the go-ahead score with just over two minutes left to play:
"I thought they were going to have to drive the field on us. Then we kick it out of bounds. Can't do that. We got them fourth-and-10 and can't get off the field. I felt pretty good, but we didn't make enough plays to make it happen."
On the decision to go for two:
"There was nothing into the decision. I decided when we took the ball on offense that we were going to go for two."
On the play of Ailym Ford:
"He shows up every week and works his butt off. He does what he is supposed to do every week."
Marshall Cooper – Sr.-LB
On the play of Wofford's quarterback Joe Newman:
"I definitely lost about 12 pounds today chasing him around. I really like him, just going from side to side and shifting gears."
On Wofford last drive of regulation to tie the score:
"We thought they would just run the ball that last drive. We didn't drop far enough on that fourth down completion. I know it was just a simple mistake, but we have to fix that. It could have changed the entire day."
On playing overtime against a triple-option team:
"They are tough, when they get in the 25-yard line they are very good.'
On putting this behind them and getting ready for Furman:
"What is great about it we get to come in on Monday and get better. Where we are right now is a good deal. We are going to keep coming each week."
Ailym Ford – Fr.-RB
Thoughts on the game:
"It was a great game and we battled. We just need to make a play, just need to make a play."
On what to do to clean up the little mistakes:
"We just have to keep on watching film, keep practicing hard and watch more film. We have to do the little things."
On the play of Wofford's defense:
"They just played hard every play and I have to give them respect for that. They didn't take one play off. They were smart and they obviously watch film."
Nick Tiano – Sr.-QB
Overall thoughts on the game:
"We came out strong. Unfortunately, we made too many mistakes throughout the game. That starts with me. I was so proud of the way we fought on both sides of the ball for four quarters. We gave ourselves a chance on the road against a good team."
On the play of the offense today:
"I am proud of our guys. The offensive line did a great job up front. Ailym, I will take him any day of the week. He runs his heart out for us. I am proud of our effort. We have to cut down on our mistakes>
On play of Aliym Ford:
"He is one of the toughest kids I have ever seen . He goes all game at the same speed, 100 percent. You are never going to get anything less and we love playing with him."
