Postgame Quotes

Coach Lamont Paris
Thoughts heading into halftime after team got back into the game:
"My thought going into halftime was we have a chance to win the game. I felt like if we played well in the first four minutes of the second half, 12 would turn into six or five. Then it's a game."
Â
On the start of the second half:
"That was under the premise we would come out and block out…defend at a high level. You can't draw it up. They have guys who are going to make individual plays, that's what basketball is. You have to play your rules defensively and when you get a stop, you have to track it down and grab the rebound. We didn't on the first two possessions. So 12 goes to 16 and that's not the message you want to send at that point. From there, we never got into our flow."
Â
What do you take from the first five games to apply to the next one:
"You have learn what's been good to you and what's not been good to you. You're constantly learning that throughout the season so what breeds success for us and what causes problems. That means we need to stick to the things we do well and avoid those pitfalls. It sounds very simple to say, but at the end of the day, that's what it comes down to."

What do you take from a tough result like this:
"There's a lot we can take from this. We have to keep our heads (maintain confidence) and move on to the next day. We didn't control the things we can control tonight. It was a tough night on the boards especially. The shots weren't falling…we just need to focus on those things we can control and take them into the next game."
Â
Getting the game to a manageable number at the half:
"We started sticking to our game plan. We executed it there and made a run. We got back into by playing to our defensive rules and making a few shots on offense. It just slipped away from there."
