ABOUT CHATTANOOGA BASKETBALL
CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs return to the scene of one of their top wins of the 21st century Monday night. Thompson-Boling Arena and 17th-ranked UT Knoxville await a 7:01 p.m., tipoff on the SEC Network.
The Mocs are coming off a tough 89-53 loss at Florida State Wednesday night. The loss snapped the squad's three-game win streak. It was the first of two on-campus site contests in the Emerald Coast Classic for the squad with the second coming in Knoxville. The last time in the event (2015), Chattanooga captured one of the two road games beating Illinois (81-77) before falling at No. 4 Iowa State.
Our Knoxville campus is 4-0 and owns an impressive mark beyond the clean sheet to date. The Vols win over Alabama State Wednesday was the 29th in a row in Thompson-Boling Arena, the longest active streak in the nation. The last loss was Jan. 2, 2018, 94-84 to Auburn. The Vols are 45-7 (.865) since Chattanooga's season-opening win there on Nov. 11, 2016.
Grad transfer
Matt Ryan (Vanderbilt) started the season four of 17 (23.5%) from 3pt range and nine of 32 (28.1%) overall. Over the last three games, he's made three or more treys in every contest at a 40.7 percent (11-27) rate. That's come with an uptick all over the floor at 44.7 percent (17-38) total. He played in both Commodore meetings with the Vols last season averaging 9.0 points per game.
There's only one member of the Mocs roster that was on it in November 2016. Junior
David Jean-Baptiste, who currently leads the squad with a 16.4 point-per-game average, was starting his redshirt campaign. There are three Vols who saw action in that contest: Lamonte Turner (12 pts, 2 reb), John Fulkerson (0 pts, 2 reb) and Jordan Bowden (0 pts, 1 reb) played a combined 37 minutes.
Chattanooga (3-2) at No. 17 Tennessee (4-0)

3 NOTES TO KNOW
- 3-42 all-time against ranked opponents, 1-32 in the regular season. The last win against a ranked opponent was March 16, 1997 defeating No. 19 Illinois 75-63 advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16. That came after a 73-70 win over No. 17 Georgia in the opening round.
- Chattanooga's offensive output the last two contests are an interesting contrast. The 90 points in the win over South Alabama was the most against a non-conference, DI opponent since 96 in the Dec. 6, 2016 win over Marshall. The 53 points Wednesday at Florida State are the fewest since 48 at home against Georgia State on Dec. 23, 2017.
-
David Jean-Baptiste has scored in double digits in 13 straight games dating back to the last eight of last season. He's averaging 14.5 ppg over that span. He's leading the squad in scoring at 16.4 ppg this year. Last Moc with 14 in row? 14 by
Nat Dixon '18 from Dec. 17, 2017-Feb. 1, 2018. He's shooting 43.3 percent (55-127) from 3pt range over the last 27 games making just over two per contest.
