CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs are a bit road weary. Heading into game 11 Wednesday night at Virginia Tech, it's the eighth game away from Gig City.

The Mocs are 3-4 in those first seven. That includes losing second-half leads at Eastern Kentucky and Western Carolina along with a 14-point comeback in the final 18:49 at Troy which comes to visit the Mocs on Sunday.

But first is the visit to Blacksburg, Va. Virginia Tech is 6-3 on the year, while the Mocs ride into town at 6-4. The Hokies opened the Mike Young era with six straight wins including topping Michigan State in Maui. Young squared off 29 times against the Mocs during his tenure at Southern Conference rival Wofford. It was almost always a spirited affair with UTC holding a 15-14 advantage in the matchups.

This is just the third time the Mocs and Hokies face each other. Chattanooga won the initial meeting 84-70 on Dec. 23, 2000 in the Roundhouse. Virginia Tech claimed a narrow 63-59 victory on Dec. 2, 2004 just a few days before the 69-68 win at Tennessee.

Matt Ryan leads the Mocs with a 15 point-per-game average. He's heated up recently averaging 18 per contest over the last three shooting 51.3 percent (20-39) overall including 10-23 (43.5%) from 3pt range. David Jean-Baptiste adds just over 13 per game as well.

Landers Nolley II leads a trio of double-digit scorers for the Hokies at 18.6 ppg and paces the effort on the boards (5.4). Nahlem Alleyne (11.1 ppg) and P.J. Horne (10.4) also average double figures. Wabissa Bede is ninth in the country in assists per game (7.0) and seventh in A/TO (4.2).

While the Mocs are focused on Wednesday night's tilt, the athletics department keeps an eye out Sunday's double-header with women with Troy's squads coming to town. Chattanooga athletics in conjunction with the Salvation Army are hosting a winter coat drive. Donate a coat to help those in the area in need during the cold season and get buy one, get one free tickets.
