Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Tennessee Wesleyan at Chattanooga
McKenzie Arena – Chattanooga, Tenn.

Lamont Paris, Head Coach
On dishing the ball efficiently.
"We talked about that at halftime. We had 18 assists on 19 baskets, ended with 29 assists on 38 baskets. That's ultimately how we need to play. It means you're getting higher quality shots when it's coming from someone else's hands. I think we generally play better when we're coming off a screen, off a cut, or off something where we're making a play for someone else. I thought in the Western game where they went on their run, we didn't distribute the ball to each other like we needed to. We really wanted to make sure we were getting a high quality shot every time."
Â
On defensive efforts.
"Defensively, we were really good minus a couple guys that made some rule violations, and they made us pay for them. It'll be a good film study. Overall, we have been pretty good this year for the most part. I think we have had about three halves this year that you have to eliminate and stay away from if you want to win games. We did a pretty good job today. I thought it was a solid defensive effort at the end of the day and I'm happy with what we did."
Â
On gaining confidence after today's win.
"When we played the way we did, and shared the ball the way we did, and you're efficient in what you do, you can put up a good number. I think if you're efficient, the points will take care of itself. The efficiency goes way up when you have high quality shots. It'll be good for our confidence going into the next game. It's a good 10 game stretch and the guys are excited to get to the next one."

Matt Ryan, Gr.-G
On today's performance.
"It feels really good. We felt like we let it slip away last game, had a lead at halftime and let it slip. That stung for a couple days for sure. It felt good to get out here and everyone played well and put up big numbers before we head to Virginia Tech."
Â
On practice preparation before this game.
"We competed really hard and watched a lot of film from that game. There were a lot of things that should have happened for us that we should have done, but we didn't and we had to learn from it. It was good that a lot of guys got a lot of minutes today."
Â
On today's game plan.
"Coach really emphasized an early punch and not waiting around. We didn't want to feel our way into the game. We did that. We wanted to play our game aggressively and wanted to move the ball, share the ball and move. We had a lot of open shots and I think we shot the ball well. You'll always shoot better when you have open looks."
Â
On gearing up for Virginia Tech this week.
"I'm excited to get up there and play an ACC team. We're excited to watch some film and learn what they're about. It'll be a good test for us."
Â
Ramon Vila, Jr.-F
On starting early.
"That was something really important for us. We knew we had to take a lead early and we wanted to get some guys who haven't play as much minutes today. Everyone played well today after a really tough game at Western. It's not easy to play after a game like that. We handled it very well."
Â
On watching the bench players perform well.
"It's fun. I was very happy. Justin [Brown] played very well. Trey [Doomes] also played really well. I'm really proud of them and everyone performed well."
Â
On taking today's effort to Virginia Tech.
"This is a game we had to win. We did our homework. How we started was really important because lately we haven't been starting well. It's important because when you go to a place like Virginia Tech and you get behind early, it's over. We can't allow that to happen.
Â
On defensive emphasis.
"We have been holding teams into their 50's and that's been a goal for us. Players are older and more responsible and know what to do in certain situations. More experience has helped us."
