Maddy McDanel and the Chattanooga Mocs are in Mexico teeing off Thursday at the Hawkeye-El Tigre Invitational.

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team is back on the course this week playing in a strong field at the Iowa's Hawkeye-El Tigre Invitational. The 12 teams attack El Tigre Golf Club in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Thursday through Saturday in the three-day, 54-hole event.

Monica San Juan and Maddy McDanel lead the squad through seven tournaments. There's just four strokes difference between San Juan's 74.15 and McDanel's 74.35. Kirsty Beckwith is coming off here two best performances as a Moc with top 20s and a 74.50 mark over the past 108 holes.

Rheagan Hall and Esme Hamilton round out the lineup this week. The freshmen started seven and six tournaments, respectively. It's a course their teammates have some experience playing.

Chattanooga finished ninth against an equally difficult field a year ago. Monica San Juan tied for 15th turning in consistent cards of 75, 74 and 75 for an 8-over 224 at El Tigre. Maddy McDanel looks for a little revenge on El Tigre shooting 238 that week.

Chattanooga is one of eight top 100 programs, per Golfstat, in the field. No. 10 Arizona is the headliner followed by No. 35 Kennesaw State and No. 37 Tennessee.
Fourth straight event with the same lineup. This quintets averaged 301.11 over the previous nine cards bettering the team's 302.00 during the first 11.
The Mocs second 18 is on average their best at 300.57, but the 82.00 drop score is the highest. The 54-hole number is 301.60 for the team with an 81.50 drop score.
