Monica San Juan led the Chattanooga Mocs over the final 18 holes of the UNF Collegiate.

RESULTS | ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team's final round 300 under cold, difficult conditions moved the ladies up to a sixth-place finish at the UNF Collegiate. It was the fourth-best 18 at the Jacksonville Golf & Country Club Tuesday.

The ladies were led by senior Monica San Juan's 73. Kirsty Beckwith and Maddy McDanel added 74 and 75, respectively, while Esme Hamilton chipped in 78. Rheagan Hall had the drop tally of 81.

Chattanooga got off to a slow start beginning the frosty morning on holes 7-9 in shotgun format. As they made the turn at 18, the counting cards stood at 10 over. They came in strong playing those remaining six to eight markers 2 over methodically climbing the leaderboard.

The 300 nearly earned the Mocs a top 5 finish. Fifth-place South Alabama turned in 305 to end up at 891, one ahead of the Scenic City ladies at 892. That was four clear of Western Kentucky in seventh and five ahead of the eighth-place duo of Murray State and Eastern Kentucky.

Beckwith earned a second straight top 20 tying for 18th at 221. San Juan nearly joined her tying for 22nd with 222, while McDanel was another stroke back tied for 24th at 223. Hall ended with a 229 total, while Hamilton finished at 235.

Host North Florida claimed the team title with 871. The Ospreys came back from an eight-shot deficit to 36-hole leader Delaware to get the win ending with 294. Sam Houston State's Hanna Alberto won medalist honors with 7-under 209.

Chattanooga gets two weeks off before heading south of the border. Next up is the Hawkeye-El Tigre Invitational hosted March 21-23 by Iowa in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

3 NOTES TO KNOW

Beckwith's 221 is her best 54-hole result as a collegian…the previous best was 226 set last tournament as well as three times in her first two seasons played at St. John's…spring average is 74.50 after making the fall turn at 80.00…missed 2017-18 with an injury receiving a medical redshirt.
San Juan's 222 is her second-best total this season and her fourth event finished tie for 22nd or better.
McDanel's season scoring average remains at 74.35 this week, four strokes behind San Juan in 20 rounds thus far…it's nearly 3.5 shots better than her career average entering the campaign (77.78).
