CHATTANOOGA --- After picking up a pair of wins last weekend in Southern Conference action, the Chattanooga Mocs softball team will shift its focus toward a non-conference showdown against the Belmont Bruins in Nashville, Tenn., on Tuesday night.

First pitch for Tuesday's game is set for 6 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. CT.
 
Chattanooga is coming off a series victory at SoCon-leading Mercer last weekend where it saw a pair of 4-2 victories and a tough 2-1 loss. The Mocs upped their place in the league standings to fourth with a 4-5 record. Samford paces the conference behind a 9-3 tally.
 
UTC went an impressive 21-7 in non-conference games and a perfect 8-0 against OVC members this season. Tuesday's game marks the first non-conference game since March 16.

Belmont split a pair of Ohio Valley Conference doubleheaders last weekend to keep an even league record of 8-8. They defeated Jacksonville State in five innings, 8-0, before falling 7-5 in the nightcap on Friday. Sunday's twinbill against Tennessee Tech resulted in a 4-3 win and 7-5 loss.
 
The Bruins went 4-0 against the Southern Conference a season ago and won their lone matchup this season, 7-6 over Samford back on April 3 in Birmingham. Belmont defeated Chattanooga, 3-0, last season in its first meeting since 2012.

Senior outfielder Baylee Cook ranks eighth in the OVC and leads the team with a .379 batting average. Fellow senior outfielder Hayley Baker paces the squad with 40 RBI and follows Cook with a .359 average. Sophomore pitcher Alicia Veltri enters the game with a 12-7 record and 2.35 ERA this season, totaling 120 strikeouts in a team-high 122.1 innings pitched. She also has been impressive on offense, leading the team in homeruns (7) and walks drawn (21) while ranking second in RBI (32) and slugging percentage (.570%).
