QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH ANDY MEYER
On the runners in non-traditional events
"Our hopes were to put kids in some difficult situations and have them compete hard and learn to overcome adversity and being uncomfortable. The girls were doing several events they normally don't run to aid that fact."
Â
On the 1500 meter race
"Ashlynd went out hard and that helped her pace for the win. Julia came from six-seven places back, negative split the race and almost got the second place girl. Sophia led her heat from start to finish and place out of the slow heat."
Â
On the 400 meter race that had several running it for the first time
"In the 400m, Kennedy Thomson and Nicole Buehrle started conservative and both worked their way through a very strong field to grab the win (Thomson) and get third (Buehrle)."
Â
On the 400m Hurdles
"Nicole immediately came back and ran a hard 400 m Hurdles race and placed fifth overall again out of a slow heat."
Â
On the Mocs in the relay races
"Both relays, the 4 x100m and 4x400m were solid. We had some girls in them we don't normally run just to see how they respond."
Â
General thought on the meet
"Overall the girls competed very hard and learned a little about themselves today."
