The Chattanooga Mocs softball program claimed its 14th Southern Conference Tournament title and made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2015 after defeating top-seeded UNCG, 10-1, at Jim Frost Stadium back on May 11.
UTC was selected to the Oxford Regional, hosted by No. 11 Ole Miss, alongside Louisiana and SEMO. The Mocs finished the 2019 campaign with a 37-17 (.685) overall record, its best mark since 2015, and totaled 10 All-Southern Conference selections between first team, second team and the top awards, the second-most in program history.
Junior
Celie Hudson was named the 2019 Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year while
Emily Coltharp took home the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year honor. Both were the first UTC representatives for their respective awards since 2008.
Senior
Emma Sturdivant (1B) joined Hudson (P) and Coltharp (SS) on the All-SoCon First Team, her second career top-team selection. Seniors
Amanda Beltran (C) and
Morgan Kazerooni (UTL), juniors
Aly Walker (DP) and
Hayleigh Weissenbach (OF), and freshman
Mariah Ramirez (P) all were named to the All-SoCon Second Team. Additionally, Ramirez and Coltharp earned spots on the all-rookie team.
