Caleb Waddell

Two-Time Georgia State Champion Among New Mocs

Next up on the GoMocs.com breakdown of the 2020-21 newcomers is freshman Caleb Waddell.  The Ellijay, Ga., native is a two-time state champion and younger brother of Mocs' junior Matthew Waddell

"Caleb is an awesome addition to our talented group of middle weights," stated head coach Kyle Ruschell, who projects Waddell at 174 pounds.  "His athleticism allows him to pick up on technique very quickly and his strength allows him to continuously be in great position."

Caleb posted a 190-18 record in four years of prep wrestling at Gilmer High School for head coach Joshua Ghobadpoor.  He was a four-time state qualifier and three-time finalist.

Waddell went 51-2 at 170 pounds his junior season, winning his first Georgia trophy and earning All-American honors at the Fargo Nationals Tournament.  As a senior, he posted a 63-3 record, repeating as state champ at 170.

Caleb was a four-year honor roll student and honor graduate at Gilmer.  He was also a four-year letter winner on the golf and fishing teams.

"Caleb wants to be great in everything he does and that has been showing in the classroom as well," added Ruschell. "That is what we are about here at Chattanooga, "Fight for Every Point" translates to all aspects of being a student-athlete.  I'm excited for what Caleb is adding to our team and can't wait to see what's to come for him.
