Wrestling Announces 2025-26 Schedule

Kamdyn Munro

Kamdyn Munro and the Chattanooga Mocs look forward to a challenging schedule headlined by a Roundhouse visit from Ohio State

First Look
The Chattanooga Mocs wrestling team has an ambitious slate ahead for the 2025-26 campaign. Coach Kyle Ruschell and his staff are challenging a talented roster with opportunities against the best in the nation. They're also bringing the show back to McKenzie Arena with a visit from Ohio State as well as the annual Southern Scuffle.

First Take
"I think we've set the schedule up really well. Not just working into it but wrestling Ohio State...going up to the Black Knight...wrestling Iowa. Going to these open tournaments and really laying down the groundwork in that first half of the year through the Southern Scuffle. Then we can adjust that second semester, get healthy, fix the little details to wrestle at the highest level come March and peak at the right time. I think this schedule does that, and it not only pushes guys, but it also allows them to continue to get better throughout the season." – Coach Kyle Ruschell

The Breakdown
  • The highlight is obviously the visit from the Buckeyes on Nov. 9, a 1 p.m., Sunday afternoon bout. That match shifts to McKenzie Arena for the first dual there since 2022's invasion by the Iowa Hawkeyes. Tickets for that event include mat-side seating along three ends of the competition. Reserved padded seats are also in the mix as well as lower-level seating in what is an amazing atmosphere for collegiate wrestling.
  • Other home duals: Nov. 2 Chattanooga Quad Duals to open the season, Davidson (1/23), Presbyterian (1/25), The Citadel (1/31) and App State (2/15).
  • Road Duals: Utah Valley and Iowa in Hannibal, Mo., (12/12), Kent State (12/19), Gardner-Webb (1/16), VMI (2/6), Campbell (2/8) and Bellarmine (2/22).
  • The tournament opportunities include Army's Black Knight Invitational (11/23) and Kent State Open (12/20). The Southern Scuffle is back Jan. 3-4 in McKenzie Arena.
  • The postseason starts again in Asheville, N.C., at the Southern Conference Championships (3/6-7). The NCAA Championships are March 19-21 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Final Thoughts
" I think this schedule is kind of that sweet spot of giving our guys plenty opportunities to go after a ranked guy, figure some stuff out and then go after another ranked guy. We're super excited for this team. Whether they're new incoming guys or guys that have been here. I think everybody's going to get that same high-level competition." – Coach Ruschell

"(The Ohio State dual) really allows our community to come out and show the full support of what it is to wrestle in the city of Chattanooga. We had a great showing of fans when Iowa came in town, and I expect nothing less with Ohio State here. We want to pack McKenzie Arena. We're shooting for 4,000 fans. It's a great weekend coming before the high school season and avoiding football Fridays or Saturdays. It's on a Sunday which allows everybody to get here, cheer for the Mocs and see some high-quality wrestling." – Coach Ruschell
