Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga at The Citadel
McAlister Field House – Charleston, S.C.

Lamont Paris, Head Coach
On scoreboard watching and the effort tonight.
"That's the only time really. It's only fun after you took care of business. It was a really good effort by the guys tonight, especially in the second half. We were running out and hitting on the break. We had a stretch there where we did a really good job on the defensive end too which helped."
Â
On wire-to-wire victory.
"It just doesn't work out that way very often but it did tonight. You're not comfortable at all with a 12 point lead, especially against a team like that who can catch fire from three at any point. You come out in the second half and come out with a little run, it makes you feel a lot better. They made a run and we specifically didn't call a timeout so we could let the guys find their way through those situations. And they did. We got it back up to ten and then after that we began to play basketball."
Â
On shutting down any potential Citadel run.
"We did that. We made a move and got it back to double figures, they called timeout, and we told them good job for weathering that storm, then we told them to start playing basketball. We kind of got rolling there and it ended how it did. It set the tone. If you can do it by not turning the ball over, taking crazy shots, losing the ball in transition, it allows you to ride out in the sunset like we did tonight."
Â
On the upcoming stretch of important basketball.
"Good slate for us. Let's get it rocking and rolling. It's a great time of year. I told the guys that some guys that don't have a lot to play for, and we have a lot to play for. There's so much moving in our league in the standings. We're just trying to keep it moving. We have Mercer next and that's our focus."
Matt Ryan, Gr.-G
On strong shooting performance.
"A lot of guys were feeling it. We did a good job of sharing the ball. We really got going on both sides of the ball and we were knocking down some open shots. We were just able to knock down a couple more of those open looks in the second half."
Â
On stopping potential Citadel run and the effort from the team.
"There was never any panic. They cut it to three and then we rattled off seven-straight heading into the media. Coach emphasized defense during that stretch and we capitalized. They [Citadel] compete. They come out and play every one tough. I thought tonight was a great opportunity for some guys who haven't' seen the ball go through, to get going tonight. It was a good night for a lot of guys."
Â
On securing crucial wins this time of year.
"We're trying to get the five or hopefully the four spot, really just the best position possible. Every single game we try to get out with a win. That's a big game for us [Mercer] and it'll be exciting. We're both battling for position. It's going to be exciting."
