Be sure to mark your calendars for a fun #ThrowbackThursday Watch Party this week. Airing on April 16 at 8:00 p.m. (E.D.T) on Facebook.com/ChattanoogaMocs is the 1981 Jacksonville State football game.
A capacity crowd of 10,300 piled into Chamberlain Field on Sept. 26 of that year to watch the Mocs post a 10-3 win over the Gamecocks. A box score from the big win is available here.
Steve Woods hit Tony Jackson for an eight-yard strike in the first quarter, followed by a Jack Teichmann 25-yard field goal in the fourth for UTC's scoring action.
This game includes some notable Mocs like Hall of Famers Woods (QB – 12), Curtis Rouse (OL – 77) and Mike Hunt (DB – 39), along with other standouts like Jackson (WR - 89), Russ Huesman (Sr. – 44), Dennis King (RB – 27) and Willie Little (DL – 94).
We found this gem in the MocsVision vault already cut down to just under 32 minutes of air time. It is just the plays, with long-time Voice of the Mocs Jim Reynolds providing the play-by-play.
Also included are pregame and halftime performances by the band, cheerleaders and majorettes.
Tune in to the Facebook Live event Thursday, April 16 at 8:00 p.m. Share your memories of these great highlights and encourage your friends to joins us with another look back into Mocs history.
