Mocs Nab Recruit from Top Prep Program

Lincoln Heck joins the Mocs after helping Wyoming Seminary Prep to a national title.

GoMocs.com continues its look into the incoming recruiting class for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling program.  Head coach Kyle Ruschell's 2020 haul is an impressive bunch, that will definitely have an impact on the future of the program.

This week's featured newcomer is freshman Lincoln Heck. Heck joins the Mocs from West Wyoming, Penn.  He is one of three on the roster from the Keystone State, joining Chester Springs natives Wade Cumming (Sr. – 133) and Ryan Resnick (Jr. – 157).

Heck projects at 149 pounds after a standout prep career at Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School.  A four-year letter winner for the Blue Knights, Heck was part of the 2020 National Prep Championship team.  Wyoming Sem also won its 14th straight Pennsylvania Prep title in 2020.

"Lincoln is a great addition to our roster," stated Ruschell.  "He comes from a storied program and knows what "Team" is all about. He was behind one of the best recruits in the country so he did not get a lot of time in the spotlight but that has not discouraged him."

Heck trained daily with Beau Bartlett, the No. 7 overall recruit in the class of 2020.  Bartlett signed with Penn State, one of the top collegiate programs in the country.  Other SEM teammates will be joining Division I programs that include Lehigh, Harvard, Davidson, Columbia and others.

"When you train against that level of competition, it is going to make you better," added Ruschell.  "Lincoln is hungry to get on the mat and show what he can do and we are excited about getting him to Chattanooga."

A multi-sport athlete, Heck also competed in lacrosse in high school.  He has three brothers, including Cael, Kendall and Marcus, while both his parents were both college athletes.  His father, Patrick, wrestled at Lafayette College (1988-89), and his mother, Jennifer, played field hockey at Millersville University (1989-91) and East Stroudsburg University (1992).
