Meyer Announces Indoor Track and Field Schedule

| By:
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga track and field head coach Andy Meyer released a modified indoor track and field schedule.

The traditional slate of meets is cut down to two regular season dates and the Southern Conference Championships.

"We are excited to race this season," Meyer said. "Due to COVID-19, it will look a little different. The NCAA has decreased the number of meets required by 50 percent and reduced roster sizes to help teams have a season."

The Mocs begin classes on January 19 and will head to Birmingham for its opening meet hosted by Samford later that week on Friday, Jan. 22 at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The second meet will be in the same location three weeks later, on February 12.

The Southern Conference Championships will be hosted by VMI in Lexington, Va., February 26-28 at the Cormack Field House.

"With the structure of the shortened season and also the addition of a few spring cross country meets, we will be focusing on sprinting and mid-distance events for indoor," Meyer said. "We will have a few distance kids run a one indoor meet to get a good qualifying time for the conference meet.  We are looking forward to seeing our sprinters/jumpers perform as they have worked hard all fall."

Due to the pandemic, the size of he meets will be smaller and fewer events will be offered. Several of the Mocs' runners will have the opportunity to run in multiple events.
