CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team wrapped up play at the annual UTC Steve Baras Fall Invite in convincing fashion after picking up four out of six possible singles victories over Belmont on Sunday afternoon at the UTC Tennis Complex.
 
It was a great weekend of tennis for the program and solidified the main part of the fall schedule. There's a lot to look forward to when the spring rolls around.
 
"I'm so proud of this group and how well they competed this weekend," said head coach Chuck Merzbacher. "Just a lot of tough play and competitive matches out there across the board."
 
Tomas Rodriguez earned a come-from-behind victory (2-6, 6-2, 12-10) in the top pairing against Belmont's Tomas Luis while Simon Labbe picked up an impressive start-to-finish win (6-2, 6-3) over Taisei Miyamoto.
 
In addition, Ryan Mudre continued his solid fall season with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Grant Kelly. Peyton Gatti added to the victory column for the Mocs after picking up a thrilling tie-break win (6-2, 6-7, 10-8) over Diego Castro.
 
"I think we have had a super Fall with lots that we can build on for the spring. We needed all these matches.
 
"It was nice to wrap up the main part of the Fall with the UTC – Steve Baras Invite. The competition was strong and I appreciate Tennessee Tech, Georgia Southern, Belmont, Austin Peay and North Alabama for participating in our historic and annual tournament."
