NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- Freshman
Ryan Mudre captured a singles victory over Lipscomb's Carlos Salas Tulla (6-2, 6-4) during play at the Belmont Invite on Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee.
Â
"It was a very good win for Ryan today," said head coach
Chuck Merzbacher. Although Mudre's victory was the lone for the team in a hidden dual format (two doubles, five singles) against Lipscomb, there was a lot to like.
Â
"We had some exciting battles today. I like the way we got back in matches and showed toughness all day."
Â
Jacob Marshall was forced to retire (inj.) in his singles match after claiming a 7-5 decision over Gonzalo Garcia-Nietoto to start the contest while
Jordan McClure fell in tie-breaking fashion (6-2, 2-6 [7-5]) against his opponent Alex Mesquida.
The team will wrap up the Belmont Invite tomorrow afternoon. Results from the Invite will be posted following the conclusion of action at GoMocs.com.
