CHATTANOOGA – The Chattanooga Mocs' softball program and head coach
Frank Reed officially announced the signings of eight scholastic student-athletes to its 2022 recruiting class as part of the early signing period in November.
The class consists of three instate and three Georgia signees, while the other pair of future Mocs will come to the Scenic City from California. The full signing class list including highlights and achievements is below.
Tennessee (3)
Reagan Duran ∙ Murfreesboro, Tenn. ∙ Siegel High School
- .519 batting average, 41 extra-base hits, 61 stolen bases, .625 on-base percentage
- Recorded at least one hit in every game last season.
Reed on Duran: "We were able to add her to the list of signees this summer. Reagan is a lefty which gives us an advantage in our lineup and I am excited to see her in the outfield for us."
Hannah Pfeifer ∙ Knoxville, Tenn. ∙ Farragut High School
- Hit .351 last season with a .395 on-base percentage.
- Team won the Division I Class AAA Tennessee State Championship last season.
- In her most recent travel-ball season, registered 24 hits in 34 at bats, hitting above .700.
Reed on Pfeifer: "Hannah came to a lot of our camps and we were able to watch her succeed on the field. She is going to be an asset to the team and we look forward to expanding her skillset in a UTC uniform."
Emma Reed ∙ Chattanooga, Tenn. ∙ East Hamilton High School
- .345 batting average with 14 home runs and a .400 on-base percentage.
- 4.0 GPA in the classroom.
Reed on Reed: "Emma has been around the program for a while and has attended many camps at UTC. We are looking forward to seeing her grow and having her in Chattanooga Blue and Gold."
Georgia (3)
Riley KoKinda ∙ Ringgold, Ga. ∙ Heritage High School
- Career batting average of .427 with 62 stolen bases.
- 3x State Champion, 3x First-Team All-Region and 2x All-State.
- Named to 2019 and 2021 Chattanooga Best of Preps list.
Reed on KoKinda: "We are excited about Riley. She is one of the top outfielders in the southeast. She's a three-time state champion and we're thrilled to have her in Chattanooga."
Taylor Long ∙ Calhoun, Ga. ∙ Sonoraville High School
- Went 25-3 in the circle with 408 K's and a 0.48 ERA last season.
- At the plate, she hit .333 with 13 extra-base hits and 22 RBI.
- Concluded her career with 61 wins and 998 strikeouts.
Reed on Long: "Taylor is one of the top pitchers in all of the southeast. She's set some Georgia records for strikeouts and there should be a lot of wins under her belt when she joins our pitching staff."
Zoe Wright ∙ Ringgold, Ga. ∙ Heritage High School
- Career .366 batting average with 25 RBI, hit .447 with a .429 on-base percentage last season.
- Received all-region accolades four times.
Reed on Wright: We have been following Zoe since she was a freshman in high school. The moment I saw Zoe, I knew she would be a good fit for our program. We are excited to watch her continue to get better in a UTC uniform.
California (2)
Shayna Glass ∙ Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. ∙ Mission Viejo High School
- Hit .359 last season with 26 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 39 runs scored.
- Ranked in Legacy and Legends Softball Elite top-150 for the class of 2022.
- Scholar athlete and Principal Honor Roll recipient.
Reed on Glass: "Shayna is coming to Chattanooga from California but has followed us for years and knows what kind of program we have here. We are looking forward to her joining our outfield."
Peja Goold ∙ Stockton, Calif. ∙ Lincoln High School
- 1.46 ERA in 72 innings of work in the circle with 155 strikeouts and a .145 opponent batting average.
- Athlete of the Year nominee and Prep Athlete of the Week her freshman year and Cal-Hi NorCal Athlete of the Week as a junior.
Reed on Goold: "She is another California signee that will be a great addition to our pitching staff. We are excited to see what she can do in the circle…she'll be an incredible pitcher for our squad."
