Postgame Quotes

Lamont Paris, Head Coach
On the change in halves.
"I got my act together, probably needed it. Got the game plan back together and it worked [laughing]. It was like everybody was involved. It's like when you go to the casino, and you win, it just keeps coming. That was tremendous and changed the complete complexion of this game. Based on how we played in the first half, you had to find a button to press in the second half. It was complete malfunctions in what we wanted to do. We got things together. I think the zone helped us on defense and we got things turned around."

On what went wrong in the first half.
"It wasn't the offense in the first half. The half came to a close on a decent note for what happened. I thought we were going to give up 90 points. We settled it down towards the end of the half in conjunction towards what we wanted to do. It wasn't our offense. I don't know why it happened that way, but it did and we corrected it. It was just complete utter break downs on our ball screen defense. It was unrecognizable in what we were doing. It happens."

On the play from Malachi Smith.
"I thought he was good around the basket, he made a lot of strong moves. That's growth. There's times where he tried to finesse and those guys aren't having finesse. He had to make a good, strong move and he did on a couple occasions. He was really good on offense tonight and I thought he was even better on the defensive end. I challenged him after that College of Charleston game and he'll be the first to tell you that. You can't have one of your main guys doing that, anyone really. He responded well tonight."

Malachi Smith, So.-G
On rebounding after Saturday's loss.
"Sometimes a loss is needed. I'm not going to say we wanted to lose, but sometimes that loss can refocus your team and reenergize your group. It let us know that every team wants to beat us and we're going to have that all season. We have to be tested with adversity and we were. That's going to happen all year long."

On the versatility of this group.
"We can run multiple lineups. You have Silvio in different spots, Grant in different spots, A.J.. You can run many things when you're versatile. When KC [Hankton] comes back it's only going to make us better and more versatile. Those dunks [Silvio] get us going and picks up the momentum even when we're on the road."
