NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs wrapped up its four-day, three-game journey Tuesday night with a 91-61 loss to Vanderbilt at Memorial Gymnasium.
 
The Mocs found their feet behind the 3-point line late in the game, sinking five in the fourth quarter. Destiny McClendon had a team-high 11 points and drained a pair of her own. Sigrun Olafsdottir also had a pair and was the only other UTC player in double digits with 10 points.
 
Brooke Hampel, Amaria Pugh and Abbey Cornelius each added nine points. Hampel had two from 3-point land while Pugh and Cornelius chipped in one apiece.
 
"We had some folks step up today that had not in the past," Mocs head coach Katie Burrows said. "Brooke scored for us and Amaria connected as well. We have to keep building on that.
 
"Vanderbilt did a good job taking Abbey [Cornelius] out of her game and she still got nine points and nine rebounds."
 
The Commodores jumped out to an early lead and made it double figures by the end of the opening frame, leading 23-13. They would score 23 again in the next period to take a 46-23 lead into the break.
 
"You go on the road to an SEC school in a super physical conference, and we didn't match the physicality," Burrows said. "I told them at halftime that they have to battle. We are on the road and they are being physical and you have to be physical right back. I felt like they did a good job of battling in the second half."
 
Chattanooga scored 38 of its 61 points in the second half and edged Vanderbilt 23-22 in the final quarter.
 
In the final period, the Mocs were 5-of-9 from beyond the arc, and 6-of-8 from the free throw line while shooting 46.2 percent from the field. McClendon scored six of her points in the fourth. Olafsdottir had five as did Pugh.
 
Turnovers, once again, were detrimental to the Mocs game as Vanderbilt converted 23 miscues into 38 points.
 
"Their points off turnovers and their rebounds were just daggers," Burrows said. "We did a much better job handling the ball in the second half and hopefully we can carry that over to the next one."
 
The Dores outrebounded UTC 41-33 and scored 19 points off 15 offensive boards.
 
Vanderbilt had six in double digits led by De'Mauri Flournoy's 17 points that included a mid-court 3-pointer at the first half buzzer. Sacha Washington recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jordyn Cambridge scored 15 points and had a game-high five assists. Also in double digits was Brinae Alexander (13), Kaylon Smith (10) and Iyana Moore (10).
 
The Commodores shot 42 percent for the game and was 8-of-25 from deep while making 25-of-33 from the free throw line.
 
Chattanooga will return to the Roundhouse Sunday, December 5 to take on Alabama, its second of three SEC foes on the schedule this season. The game is set to tip off at 2:00 p.m. and fans are encouraged to wear blue to match the team for the BLUE OUT game.
