Mocs Kick Off Three-Game Home Stand with Cincinnati Wednesday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's basketball team open a three-game home stand Wednesday in an evening tilt against Cincinnati at The McKenzie Arena.

CHATTANOOGA vs. CINCINNATI
This will be the third meeting between the two programs. In 2011, the Mocs lost a 51-50 heartbreaker to Cincinnati at the Cancun Challenge. Two years ago, UTC fell to the Bearcats in Cincinnati.

SOCON PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Abbey Cornelius averaged 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds on the week with four assists and two blocked shots. She recorded a double-double against Alabama with a career-high tying 22 points and 10 rebounds after just missing the double dip at Vanderbilt with nine points and nine rebounds.
 
SOCON STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Abbey Cornelius carries a 3.97 GPA in Exercise Science and recorded a double-double against Alabama. She had a career-high tying 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds against the Crimson Tide.
 
JARRELLS LEADS LEAGUE IN ASSISTS
Dena Jarrells has dished out more assists than any other player in the SoCon so far this season and leads the league with 3.7 per game.
 
CORNELIUS RANKED IN NCAA STANDINGS
Abbey Cornelius is ranked eighth in the NCAA for defensive rebounds and 32nd for overall boards. She is averaging a SoCon-best 8.4 defensive rebounds and has 84 so far this season.
 
FRESHMEN STEP IN WIN OVER TENNESSEE STATE
Freshmen Addie Grace Porter and Destiny McClendon each scored in duoble digits and set career-bests in the Mocs win over Tennessee State. Porter scored eight of her 10 points in the Mocs' 11-0 run in the second quarter that put UTC up for good in the game. She had a pair of 3-pointers on the night as did McClendon who scored 12 points in the win.
 
BRINGING THE RAIN
The Mocs gave fans a taste of their long range shooting with 10 against Georgia College in the exhibition game. UTC did it again at Kennesaw State in the fifth game, making 10-of-23 from beyond the arc. At Vanderbilt, the Mocs were 8-of-22 from the 3-point line. Dena Jarrells has a team-high 14 and newcomer Destiny McClendon has seven.
 
MONSTER REBOUNDS GAMES FOR CORNELIUS
Abbey Cornelius pulled down 16 rebounds at Tennessee State and 14 more against Georgia State. Her career-best is 18 last season at home against Vanderbilt. She recorded her third double-digit rebounding game this year with 11 against Alabama.
 
PORTER MAKING THE MOST OF ENTERING STARTING FIVE
Freshman Addie Grace Porter has made five starts in UTC's first eight games and took full advantage. The point guard had three straight double-digit games and averaged 10.2 points per game. She had 22 rebounds, nine assists, 10 steals and a blocked shot.
