Postgame Quotes
Lamont Paris, Head Coach
Overall statement following loss.
"What a great college game it was with a great atmosphere. It was two teams that have achieved at a high level so far this season. All the things were there for it to be a really great game. We just didn't play well and that was a big part of what happened at the end of the day. There was a couple specific areas they were ahead of us. It's good to find some things you have to learn to do. There's a lot. We wanted to win, but we just didn't play well."
Â
On what was the difference.
"They shot the ball well. A couple of them came on transition because of something we did on the other end. There were some breakdowns. Most of it was lapses we had defensively in order to let that happen. When they make threes it's hard to defend them because of how good they are in the inside."
Â
On this stretch of games.
"It's a good test. You play 10 games and come out on the right side of things and then you dive right into a stretch of three games against three really good teams with two being on the road. That's how we set it up. We wanted to play this game at this time particularly. You're going to know what's real and what's not after a game like this and you can be exposed to things that you need to improve. We have to play better. There's not going to be a pity party on Saturday."

Overall thoughts after loss.
"I think a game of this caliber, you don't want to start out slow. Maybe it was jitters, they're a good team and they came out hot early. We'll just use this as a learning experience because the type of run we want to have, we're going to play teams like this and you need to play a full 40 minutes. I think we started to play well at the end but when you get down so big early, it's hard to come back."
Â
On moving forward.
"When you play great teams and put yourself in a hole, it takes a lot of energy to get out of the hole and take a lead. With those type of teams, they don't really let you back in the game. We have another big one at Murray on Saturday and we'll use this as a learning experience to grow. 30-some games, you're going to lose some. It's all how you bounce back."
