Mocs Open SoCon Play at The Citadel

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team is riding a three-match winning streak into Southern Conference play at The Citadel this weekend.  The Mocs open league action on Sunday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m. (E.D.T.) in Charleston, S.C.

"The team is looking forward to our first SoCon match of the year at The Citadel," stated UTC head coach Chuck Merzbacher.  "Their teams are always tough to play and we expect them to come at us."

The Mocs are 3-5 on the year, but have won their last three after a lengthy COVID shutdown.  The Citadel is 4-7 overall and 0-1 in conference action.  The Bulldogs host Davidson on Saturday before the Mocs come to town. 

"We've been fortunate to have a stretch of matches under our belt as we get into the meat of the spring schedule," added Merzbacher. "The guys have done a great job being ready to play. We still have over 50% of the spring schedule left and we are looking forward to some big matches coming our way."

UTC is 35-5 in the all-time series that dates back to 1978.  The Mocs have won three in a row and 10 of the last 11.  Chattanooga swept last year's dual 7-0 at home on Feb. 21, 2020.
