FLORENCE, Ala. — The Chattanooga Mocs beach volleyball team secured its first game victories in program history, but ultimately fell 4-1, 4-1 in doubleheader action at North Alabama on Friday afternoon.
Chattanooga falls to 0-5 on the season despite the encouraging effort while competing shorthanded. UNA improves its season mark to 7-6.
Senior Baylee Young (Jansen Beach, Fla.) and freshman Jordan Krege (Greensboro, N.C.) notched the first ever pair win in program history during the first match. The due defeated Paula Klemperer/Natalie Kordt (21-17, 22-20) to clinch history.
The pair of sophomore Bailey Steger (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) and freshman Madelina Myers-Osband (Wilmington, N.C.) went all three sets in the first match after jumping out to a 1-0 set lead (22-20). They would drop the final two sets in close fashion, 21-17 and 15-10.
Young and Krege continued their success in the second match, earning a straight-set 21-19, 23-21 victory over Maya Dickson/Taylor Seney to go a perfect 2-0 on the day.
Steger and Myers-Osband also continued its momentum in the second leg, pushing their opponents to all three sets for consecutive matches. The duo eventually dropped the game 17-21, 21-13, 15-10.
