Weissenbach, Parrott Sweep Southern Conference Weekly Honors

Senior Hayleigh Weissenbach batted .778 (7-for-9) with a homer and three RBI while junior Brooke Parrott went 1-0 with a save and a 0.00 ERA in last weekend’s sweep at ETSU.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- Senior Hayleigh Weissenbach and junior Brooke Parrott were named the Southern Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, after last weekend's efforts in Chattanooga softball's three-game series sweep at ETSU.

The weekly honor is the first for each Weissenbach and Parrott in their careers and marks the second and third UTC selection of the season after Courtney Ball earned player laurels after week one.

"It's a well-deserved honor for both Hayleigh and Brooke after what they did this past weekend at ETSU," said head coach Frank Reed.

"I'm proud of the way the team fought all weekend to earn a conference sweep and especially proud of the clutch efforts these two put in to help the team. We're looking forward to seeing more of that as we head into the middle of our SoCon schedule."

Weissenbach batted a blistering .778 (7-for-9) on the weekend with a double, homerun, three runs scored and three RBI. In the series finale on Saturday, Weissenbach broke a scoreless tie in the top of the 10th inning with a two-run homerun to right center and finished the game a perfect 4-for-4, adding a double, in her first career four-hit game. For the season, she leads the team and ranks fifth in the SoCon with a .359 (23-for-64) batting average.

Parrott went 1-0 with a save over the weekend while finishing with a spotless 0.00 ERA in 11.0 innings of work. During game one's 1-0 victory, Parrott completed the start and recorded her first career shutout after allowing just three hits while striking out five. In Saturday's series finale, Parrott started in the circle and fired 4.0 scoreless innings before returning to the game in the bottom of the 11th, retiring the Bucs in order to notch her first career save.
