Men’s Basketball (Lamont Paris, head coach) • 18-8, 9-7 SoCon/4th
• The program was the first in the country to reach a perfect 9-0 start and marked the best start to a season in school history.
• Sophomore Malachi Smith earned All-SoCon First Team honors after leading the team in scoring behind a 16.8 points-per-game average. Smith became the first Moc to lead the team in points (16.8), rebounds (8.8) and assists (3.3) per game in a single season. 
• Senior Stefan Kenic set a school record during the 2020-21 season, going a perfect 7-of-7 from beyond the arc against Western Carolina (2/17).
• The team set a school record in free throw percentage with a 78.3% (336-of-429) mark, obliterating the previous mark of 75.7% (517-of-683) in 2002-03. 
• Senior David-Jean Baptiste picked up All-SoCon Second Team laurels after finishing second on the team in scoring (16.1 ppg). It's the first time since 1994 that both starting guards (Smith/Jean-Baptiste) earned such accolades.
• The team posted a 3.0 GPA for the third time in the last four semesters which marks its third-highest total on record. Eight were selected to the Honor Roll which is also the third-highest on record.

Abbey Cornelius

Women’s Basketball (Katie Burrows, head coach) • 14-10, 9-5 SoCon/3rd 
• Eboni Williams and Abby Cornelius represented the Mocs on the All-SoCon second team … both players also made the SoCon All-Defensive Team.  
• Williams led the team in scoring and was eighth in the SoCon at 12.6 ppg … she was sixth in the SoCon with 7.9 rpg. 
• Cornelius also averaged in double figures with 10.0 ppg … she was third in the SoCon with 8.4 rpg … also third in the SoCon, shooting 51.4% from the floor … led the SoCon with 44 blocks.   
• Dena Jarrells was third in the SoCon in 3-pt. FG% at 39.4%.
• Bria Dial was 10th in the league in scoring at 11.8 ppg … she was third in the SoCon with 2.0 3-pt. FGs per game … second in the league with 32.8 minutes per game. 

Team

Beach Volleyball (Darin Van Horn, head coach) • 8-11, 7-3 OVC/2nd
• In its first full season as a program (2020 cut short due to COVID-19 pandemic), UTC finished with a 7-3 record in the Ohio Valley Conference to finish second. 
• The program recorded its first ever victory on March 24, posting a 5-0 home shutout over Carson-Newman. Its first win over an NCAA DI program came on April 17 against Austin Peay (W, 3-2). 
• Head coach Darin Van Horn and volunteer assistant Juliana Van Horn were named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Coaching Staff of the Year. 
• Senior Baylee Young and freshman Jordan Krege earned First Team All-OVC laurels after posting an 8-2 record as the Mocs top pair. 
• Juniors Gylian Finch and Bailey Steger were awarded All-OVC Second Team honors after finishing the season 7-3 against league competition. 
• Freshman Abby Ashway joined Krege on the OVC All-Freshman team behind a 7-2 season record.

Cross Country (Andy Meyer, head coach) • Women (5th SoCon) • Men (7th SoCon)
• Makenzie Jones earned a spot on the All-SoCon team on the women’s side. 
• Seth Robinson was named to the men’s SoCon All-Freshman team. 
• Women’s cross country earned special recognition from the NCAA for being in the top 10% of APR scores in Division I. 
• Jonathan Boyd made the CoSIDA Academic All-American team.

Devonnsha Maxwell

Football (Rusty Wright, head coach) • (3-2, 3-1 SoCon/2nd)
• Played a CoVID-shortened season … only game in the fall was a 13-10 loss at Western Kentucky … controversial ending included 100-yard kickoff return by Bryce Nunnelly at the end of the game that was called back on a questionable fair-catch call.
• Mocs went 3-1 in the spring season before opting out of the final three games.
• Bryce Nunnelly was a semi-finalist for the 2020 William V. Campbell Trophy® Presented by Mazda … best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
• DL Devonnsha Maxwell was an AFCA & Phil Steele All-American and a first team All-SoCon honoree.
• QB Drayton Arnold was one of 13 finalists for the STATS FCS Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award … given to the top football student-athletes at the FCS level. 
• OL Cole Strange was the co-winner of the SoCon Jacobs Blocking Award … he was also a second-team All-SoCon honoree. 
• OL McClendon Curtis joined Maxwell on the All-SoCon first team. 
• WR Reginald Henderson, DL Jay Person and LB Ty Boeck joined Strange on the All-SoCon second team. 
• DL John Prince and DL Quay Wiggles made the SoCon All-Freshman Team.
• Strange and DB Jerrell Lawson made the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team. 
• School-record six made the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, including Arnold, Strange, Lawson, RB Ailym Ford, LB Rashun Freeman and LB Christian Snyder.   

Men’s Golf (Mark Guhne, head coach) • 7th SoCon
• Won the J.T. Poston Invitational at Western Carolina … A.J. Lintunen was medalist with a 6-under 207. 
• Lintunen’s second win came at the Sea Palms Invitational in March with a 2-under 211 at the Sea Palms Resort on St. Simons Island, Ga.
• Lintunen represented the Mocs on the All-SoCon team … led UTC with a 72.93 stroke average, including two wins and three top-5s.    
• Lintunen and Leon Bader (pictured) earned spots on the GCAA All-American Scholars presented by Srixon/Cleveland Golf.

Women’s Golf (Colette Murray, head coach) • 4th SoCon
• Dorota Zalewska tied for medalist at the Terrier Intercollegiate in October.
• Esme Hamilton earned her third straight WGCA All-American Scholar honor and was joined by freshmen Beatriz Barrios, Jefimija Dordevic and Daphne van Son.
• Hamilton made the All-SoCon team after leading the squad in scoring average for the second straight year, this time at 74.75 strokes per 18. That was +2.75 vs. par and is the ninth best all-time by that stat. 
• Beatriz Barrios made the SoCon All-Freshman team after averaging 75.53.

Soccer (Gavin McKinney, head coach) • 7-3-1, 6-2-1 SoCon/3rd
• SoCon Coach of the Year Gavin McKinney led the Mocs to their best SoCon finish at third place in the league standings. 
• Junior Maggie Shaw was the SoCon Defensive Player of the Year and on the All-SoCon first team. 
• Fellow defender, senior Lauren Dluzewski, earned second team All-SoCon honors. The pair led a Mocs' defense that posted a 0.48 goals against average and just five goals allowed in six shutouts.
• Chloe Arnold was the SoCon’s NCAA Woman of the Year nominee.  She was also a second team All-SoCon honoree, leading the team with nine points on four goals and one assist. 
• Kendra Mueller and Ao Yamada made the SoCon All-Freshman Team.
• Shelby Hash and Mackenzie Smith were named to the Southern Conference All-Tournament team, marking the second time in program history that UTC placed two on the team.

Softball (Frank Reed, head coach) • 13-25, 8-8 SoCon/3rd
• Junior Emily Coltharp was named the 2021 Southern Conference Preseason Player of the Year. Coltharp was selected to the All-SoCon Second Team after ranking second on the team with a .319 batting average. 
• UTC finished third in the regular season standings to advance to the Southern Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. 
• The team defeated Auburn, 1-0, on April 21 to claim its first SEC win since 2015. The Tigers were ranked 11th in the national RPI rankings. 
• Graduate student Hayleigh Weissenbach was named to the All-Southern Conference First Team after leading the team in batting average (.320), RBI (23) and total bases (53). 
• The team tied a program record in both Dean’s List (20) and Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (22) honorees. The team posted a 3.587 GPA, its second highest in program history. 

Tomas Rodriguez

Men’s Tennis (Chuck Merzbacher, head coach) • 9-11, 3-4 SoCon/5th
• Sophomore Tomas Rodriguez made the All-SoCon First Team in singles, while he and freshman Peyton Gatti were First Team selections in doubles.
• Rodriguez led the Mocs with a 20-10 record in singles play. He was 11-8 at No. 1 in the spring. 
• Rodriguez teamed with Gatti at No. 1 doubles to go 6-1 in SoCon action.  They were 15-9 on the year and 11-6 in the top spot in the spring.
• Senior Turner Voges earned the Don Bunch/Buddy Hartsell SoCon Sportsmanship Award, marking the third-straight year and the ninth Moc overall since 2000 to win the award.
• For the seventh year in a row, the program was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team. The Mocs tied a program record with eight student-athletes earning ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition for the 2020-21 season.
• The team posted a 3.601 GPA during the 2021 spring semester, its second-highest team mark in program history. 
• The Mocs set a program record with 11 on Dean's List and 12 on the A.D. Honor Roll while tying for the most 4.0 GPA semesters with six.

Emma Van Hee

Women’s Tennis (Chad Camper, head coach) • 9-9, 2-5 SoCon/5th
• Junior Emma Van Hee was selected to the All-SoCon Second Team after leading the Mocs with a 19-7 overall record. It is the third year in a row she has either led or tied for team-high in singles wins.
• Freshman Jessie Young was named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team, finishing with a 12-14 overall mark and a 7-11 record at No. 1.  Young is the first Moc to earn SoCon All-Freshman honors since Van Hee in 2018.
• The team landed a school record seven student-athletes on the 2020-21 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete list and earned the All-Academic Team award for the 11th-straight season. 
• The program posted a department-leading 3.772 team GPA following the spring semester, which marks its second-highest GPA on record and first time leading the department. All nine members of the team set a program record by earning Dean's List honors.

Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field (Andy Meyer, head coach) • 7th SoCon Indoor • 9th SoCon Outdoor
• Named to the All-Academic Team by the United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
• Lesley Green earned All-SoCon honors after finishing third in the outdoor 10000M.  She also made the All-Freshman team.
• Faith Brown finished fourth in the outdoor 3000M steeplechase to earn SoCon All-Freshman recognition. 
• Emmy Davis took eighth in the indoor 800 meter final with a time of 2:22.62 to earn a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman team. 
• Ashtyn Hagood was sixth in the indoor women's mile to earn SoCon All-Freshman recognition.
• Kimbra Dunning made the SoCon All-Freshman team in the indoor 60M dash.

Volleyball (Travis Filar, head coach) • 6-12, 4-12 SoCon/8th
• The team competed in an unusual championship season, taking place in the spring, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• The Mocs started the season 4-0 for just the second time since 2001. 
• UTC won its lone match in the 2020 fall season, defeating Georgia State in a 3-2 thriller inside Maclellan Gymnasium. 
• Freshmen Sophia Bossong and Paige Gallentine posted 67 assists and 33 digs, respectively, during the win over Georgia State. Both marks are the most by a true freshman in their debut in program history.
• The program earned the USMC/AVAC Team Academic Award for the ninth-straight year, marking the longest streak among all Southern Conference members and all NCAA Division I institutions in the state of Tennessee. UTC was one of five SoCon schools to earn the honor in 2020-21. 
• Senior Megan Kaufman posted a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA and was named to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-American Second Team, the highest selection in the program history and just the second-ever All-American (Christina Teter, 2012). She became the program’s first three-time All-District honoree. 
• Junior Brenna Everingham was selected to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team after graduating in the spring of 2021 with Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as an Accounting major. Everingham posted an impressive 3.71 cumulative GPA. 

Drew Nicholson

Wrestling (Kyle Ruschell, head coach) • 8-4, 6-2 SoCon/3rd 
• Four individuals participated in the NCAA Championships and the team finished tied for 54th. The individuals included were senior Fabian Gutierrez (125), juniors Drew Nicholson (165) and Matthew Waddell (184) and freshman Logan Andrew (197)
• Weston Wichman was named the SoCon Freshman of the Year after going 9-3 at 157 pounds. 
• Junior Drew Nicholson was awarded the SoCon Tournament MVP after winning the league title at 165 as the No. 3 seed. He became the 22nd Moc to take home that honor. 
• Franco Valdes (141) made the All-SoCon team. 
• Wichman and Andrew were named to the SoCon All-Freshman team. 
• Nicholson, Valdes and Wichman earned NWCA Scholar All-American Honors.
