As we countdown to the Mocs' season opener against UAB on 19 at the UTC Sports Complex, we're getting to know who to watch this season.
Â
Sofia Andrade always had the number 8 growing up, but couldn't get it at her previous school. "Before I transferred, I had number 5 so I was happy to get the number back."
Â
The value it holds goes back to when she was first given the number. "My youth club coach gave it to me when I joined his team. He was a coach who really believed in me, pushed me to another level and is someone I respect to this day.
Â
"Also one time at church, the pastor mentioned that number 8 means new beginnings."
Â
She also began playing at the age of 8 and credits the passion of the fans, the creativity on the ball as what stands out for her. Before games her playlist "includes a lot of rap and Spanish music." Besides soccer, she likes basketball and volleyball.
Â
This summer she played soccer, did some hiking and spent time with family and friends.
Â
Did you know? She has two older sisters and two dogs named Olive and Pelusa!
